Aural Rehabilitation
Aural Rehabilitation is a process designed to improve communication and quality of life for individuals with hearing loss. It involves a combination of strategies, including hearing aids, cochlear implants, and counseling to help people with better communication. The goal is to enhance listening skills, speech comprehension, and overall hearing-related well-being. At BCH Audiology Services we complement hearing aid use with two different programs.
Cochlear Implant Programming
We have the programming equipment to perform MAP modifications and other adjustments you may need with your cochlear implant. We are able to program and trouble shoot the Cochlear brand cochlear implants. The Nucleus 8 is the most recent model of cochlear implant. We can help with upgrades if your insurance company has approved you for one!
Auditory Brainstem Response Testing
Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing is a diagnostic procedure used to assess the funciton of the auditory nerve and brainstem pathways. It involves placing electrodes on the scalp to measure the electrical activity in response to sounds, usually clicks or tones. ABR testing is valuable in diagnosing hearing disorders, especially in infants and individuals who can’t provide verbal feedback. It helps us determine the integrity of the auditory pathway and aids in the identification of hearing issues or neurological abnormalities.
